Our history
1953
Wagenborg decides to name the ships after rivers with the extension "borg" added.

1998
In the anniversary year, Wagenborg was awarded the designation “Royal” for 100 years of undisputable reputation in the industry.

2003
With the establishment of offices in Malmö and Montréal, Wagenborg is globally expanding. Later Madrid, Pireaus and Helsinki (2018) offices followed.

2015
The walk to work vessel ‘Kroonborg’ was awarded Ship of the Year

2024
Her Majesty the Queen christened the m.v. Máxima and m.v. Alexia at Delfsail

2025
Wagenborg introduces next-generation of fuel-flex ‘EasyMax’ design and lays keel for six vessels

1898
Founding father Egbert Wagenborg settled ashore and started shipping, towage and passenger services.

1966
Wagenborg introduced box-shaped holds to respond to the entry of the timber trade.

2014
Wagenborg completes a period of 15 years of shipbuilding at several shipyards resulting in over 100 vessels between 8.000 and 21.000 DWT with the highest Finnish Ice Class.

2017
Wagenborg won the Maritime Shipping Award with her vessel type EasyMax, a leader in terms of sustainability with a load capacity of 14,300 DWT and a very low fuel consumption.

2024
INEOS and Wagenborg sign multi-year contract for the first European-built offshore CO2 carrier.

First successful RORO operation of lock gate in Emden

Today, the Carbon Destroyer 1 was transported successfully from the ship building yard of Royal Niestern Sander to the Dutch port of Delfzijl. This event marks another major step in the construction of the first European built dedicated offshore CO2 carrier.
